A diabetic should take their blood glucose reading at least two to three times every day, and change their diets to accomodate for their blood glucose levels. Some diabetics that can't produce enough insulin may sometimes take insulin shots after meals, or constantly wear an insulin pump. A diabetic should get plenty of exercise, and stay away from unhealthy simple carbohydrates such as sugar, instead they should strive to incorporate more complex carbohydrates into their diets such as beans or rice. Which take a long time to digest but yield more energy.
